We understand that retaining wall and drainage problems can raise a lot of questions. Whether you’re dealing with a leaning wall, erosion, poor drainage, or planning a brand-new outdoor project, our goal is to help you understand your options—not overwhelm you.

This guide explains what you can expect before, during, and after your consultation so you know exactly what happens every step of the way.

How To Prepare

If you have property surveys, HOA documents, engineering reports, or previous estimates, they can be helpful—but they’re never required. We’ll explain everything we need during the visit.

What Happens Next

After the consultation, we’ll review the information gathered on site and determine the best path forward. Depending on your project, that may include a proposal, engineering recommendations, permitting guidance, or scheduling.

Site Walkthrough

We begin by walking the property with you. This gives us a chance to understand your concerns, see how you use the space, and hear what you hope to accomplish.

Wall Inspection

We inspect the retaining wall and surrounding areas for signs of movement, cracking, bulging, erosion, settlement, or other structural concerns.

Measurements

We gather measurements of the wall, slope, elevation changes, access points, and surrounding features to better understand the scope of the project.

Drainage Evaluation

Because drainage is one of the most common causes of retaining wall problems, we evaluate water flow, grading, downspouts, and how moisture moves through the site.

We’ll talk about your goals, budget considerations, timeline, and any future plans for the property so our recommendations align with your long-term vision.

Recommendations

Before we leave, we’ll explain the options we see, answer your questions, and outline what the next steps may look like. If engineering or additional planning is appropriate, we’ll explain why.

How To Prepare For Your Consultation

There are a few items that can be helpful during your consultation, but don’t worry if you don’t have them. Most homeowners don’t have every document or detail available—and that’s completely okay.

Helpful Items

Property Access If possible, make sure we can easily access the project area.
Secure Pets Please secure pets if they'll be outside during the consultation.
Property Survey If you have a recent survey, it can be helpful—but it isn't required.
HOA Documents If your neighborhood requires approvals, feel free to share any available information.
Engineering Reports Previous engineering plans or reports can provide useful background.
Utility Information If you're aware of irrigation, septic systems, buried utilities, or drainage pipes, let us know during the visit.

No Documents?
No Problem.

Most homeowners don’t have surveys, engineering plans, drainage maps, or previous documentation available. That’s completely normal. Our consultation is designed to help identify what’s important, explain what we see, and determine whether any additional information may be helpful later in the process. Come as you are—we’ll take it from there.
